Bloodbath. The Engineers of Osrim Chardz. P2

Continuing with my BloodBath challenge I have finished off Osrim Chardz

I was a bit daunted to paint him initially as he is one of my rarest/most expensive figures and one of the principle characters in the scenario.
Based on Lieutenant John Chards the Royal Engineer who commanded the Defence of Rorkes Drift, the figure graces the box cover and is a highly detailed sculpt.
As with all my characters, I have raised him up a bit and decided on sticking with his cover paint scheme. Purely by chance (or subliminally with the box art on my painting table) the blue i had chosen for the other dwarf units as the League colours (GW Thunderhawk Blue) works perfectly for his cloak and ties him in with the rest of the units.
The sculpt itself matches up with the Gary Chalk artwork (but reversed when used on the box)

Red jacket and white belt and pouch are a nice nod to the British Redcoat uniform

Only the standard left to go and another Command sheet completed!

Tzeentch. The Church of Transmogrification renewed

I last aded to my Tzeentchian Warband in 2017 ( shameful face!) and is another project I hope to see progress in 2020 and to help remind me I have peppered my painting lists with a warband figure between other projects.
The first figure for 2020 is from Knightmare Miniatures Pantheon Of Chaos Range. Knightmare Miniature are creating amazing figures full of character and a classic Oldhammer vibe perfect for this project and I would recommend checking them out if you don't already know them.

'Phuu (klick) watches the waters and is mesmerised by the light and colours that dance with it, its movements stirring him to the core as they once stirred his body and gave him new form. The hands of Tzeentch upon him that he might better serves the Great Changer. Phuu (klick) stands at the heart of the Church of Transmogrification, the Sacred lake from which the Church draws its great Change.
Phuu (klick) does not remember his life before and the Cerulean ledger records only that he had been here before their arrival, for Abbey had once belonged to a Bretonnian Order dedicated to the Lady of the Lake. The Abbott had fallen to lust and greed, secrets he could not hold, and now its walls and the  waters beneath, this sacred Lake, were made anew and Phuu (Klick) would stand guard and see them bless all as he had been blessed.

Brother York of the Outer Church

Brother York had known a lifetime of secrets. As a child he had been one of twins but as they had grown differences had begun to emerge in his brother Lor. At first it was just in personality, he became more more morose and isolated, with random outbursts of violence and almost animal like rage. He would disappear for days as a teenager, despite the tears of their mother and the beating of their father on his return. Then the changes became physical as puberty brought not a move into manhood but something else. Hair sprouted from all of his body, muscles thickened along with his skin. Fearful of being reported and condemned, the family hid him and chained him to the wall as he descended further. When even this became too much the family took him to the woods and watched him flee into the darkness on hooves. Yorks mother died soon after of a broken heart and his father took to drink and beating York. When he could take no more York fled and was found by missionaries of the Church who were preaching in the town and taken in. The guilt and loss of his brother and mother, his rage towards his father and desperate desire for change a rich offering to Tzeentch.

Bloodbath. The Engineers of Osrim Chardz. P1

Still full of New Years vigour which has been incentivised by joining a painting challenge on the Oldhammer Community Facebook Group I have made a start on the next Bloodbath at Orcs' Drift Command Sheet.

Several of the dwarves had been partly been painted from the last time and were rebased and all given the new livery.

Repainted dwarves. The third in is an old Imperial dwarf and had lost his hammer so it was replaced with a plastic one from an Empire sprue.

the second five are a Middlehammer set of miners which fitted in with the Engineering theme of the unit.

I added two more dwarves to the table as they were both in desperate need of paint and meant pretty much all of the dwarves I own will be painted the same

Full unit and only Osrim himself left to do...

Bloodbath. The Dwarfs of Ashak Rise. P2

Looking back over the blog and it was Oct 2018 that I last posted on my Bloodbath at Orcs Drift Project and unfortunatly I had done little else since then.
Distracted by numerous other projects, the figures did little more than move around my painting list and sit accusingly on the back of my desk. But as the end of this year approached I had a burst of guilt fuelled inspiration to try and get at least these finished and complete my second Command Sheet

This was the state of play late December, with ten still to paint and six done, although I was no longer happy with them which I think contributed to my avoidance.

I started reworking the initial six and gave them a new livery which I was much happier with and inspired me to work on the rest.

The crossbow dwarves were painted up in the new livery. The crossbows were modified Empire crossbows

The first of my Bloodbath character figures. Borinn Fimbul and his son Snorinn Fimbul.
Both figures are packed with extra details and a joy to paint

This took me up to the end of the year and only the pack mules left to do frustratingly!

All painted and my second Command Sheet completed!

Still on a dwarf high, I have started the next Command Sheet which will be The Engineers of Osrim Chardz. This is also small unit and will be another repaint and paint. It also contains Osrim Chardz himself which was a limited Scenario release and is quite a rare/expensive figure.
